From Outdoor Education Coordinator Shawnn Row:
RHS Junior and Seniors enjoyed two days of skiing Telluride over the past two Wednesdays. The first day was a bright and fun spring skiing session while this week saw the students shred knee-deep powder all day long on one of the better ski days of the season. On top of skiing, students had four mini-lessons with different professionals in the Outdoor Industry and Tourism field. Brad Megahee has worked on Tellurides lifts for 26 years and students got to tour lift 4 and see how those operations work. Lisa Morgan, who coordinated the ski days, talked to students about her group sales and marketing job for Teleski that sees her bring clients from all over the world to our little corner of Colorado. Students also toured Wagner Custom Ski to see not only how skis are made, but the individual artistic expression and detail that goes into each pair of skis. Eric Larson showed the students around the ski patrol hut at the top of lift 7 and went over his job of ski patrolling and the perks and challenges.
