WHEREAS, the only matter before the electors at the regular biennial school election on November 7, 2023, is the election of two (2) persons to fill two (2) offices of school director; and
WHEREAS, two (2) individuals have nomination petitions with sufficient signatures to qualify as candidates; and
WHEREAS, the deadline for filing an affidavit of intent to be a write-in candidate has passed with two (2) individual(s) filing such an affidavit; and
WHEREAS, state law at Colo. Rev. Stat. § 1-5-208(1.5) authorizes the Board of Education by resolution to cancel the election and declare the candidates elected if at the close of business on September 5, 2023 there are not more candidates than offices to be filled at the election, including candidates filing affidavits of intent to be write-in candidates.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Ridgway School District has determined that the prerequisites for canceling the election have been met so the 2023 regular school biennial election is canceled.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following individuals are hereby declared elected by acclamation: Aimee Quadri and Gregory Zimmerman; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that between Election Day and the next regular meeting of the Board of Education or the Board’s organizational meeting, whichever comes first, the designated election official shall provide these candidates with certificates of election after which they shall each take the oath of office within ten (10) days and will thereafter be qualified to participate in meetings of the Board of Education.

Once elected, board members typically serve a four-year term and may serve for two (2) consecutive terms (unless filling the remainder of a vacancy).
Board of Education meetings are generally held on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month except when the meeting falls on a holiday or scheduled break. The meetings are typically held at the Ridgway Schools and generally consist of a work session and a regular business meeting beginning at 5:00 p.m. All-day and half-day board work sessions are scheduled throughout the year. All meetings are open to the public.
Candidates are responsible for identifying and meeting all legal and financial deadlines.

First day to pick up and circulate Nomination Petitions, Ridgway School District Office, 1075 Sherman Street, Suite 210, Ridgway, CO 81432
September 1, 2023, 1:00 p.m.
Nomination Petition: Last day for school director candidates to file a nomination petition with circulators’ notarized affidavits, a notarized acceptance of nomination, and written notice of intent to be a candidate.
