From RSS Athletic Director Shawnn Row:
Thank you to everybody who came out and cheered on our high school teams in their season finale! Though our girls took a loss, the atmosphere was amazing and they still secured their regional spot! We will be traveling to Rangely on Friday. I'm super proud to be their coach and of the program's upward trajectory.
The boys delivered a nail-biter of a game that saw Pat M. hit a last second shot off another signature rebound. He was fouled on the shot and hit the go-ahead free throw to win a first league title since 1998! It was one of the better high school sports moments I've witnessed over the years. Coach Merritt and Purvis have really turned this team around, and created composed athletes who don't falter. The boys will be traveling to Sanford on Friday to take on Heritage Christian.
I know these big games don't happen every week, but having a gym full of supporters was absolutely amazing and I hope this can be more of a norm going forward. Keep showing up and bring your friends and family!
